Funds raised from our ‘Drag Out Your Friends’ event will help LGBTQI+ refugees

Yesterday, Pivot Chair Margaret Shearman visited the headquarters of Rainbow Refugee to deliver funds that were raised during Pivot’s Drag Out Your Friends event in August. Rainbow Refugee works to provide support, information, and system navigation to refugees and refugee claimants seeking refugee status in Canada, and helps those who want to sponsor refugees as they flee persecution in their home countries.

Margaret met with Andrea Arnot (she, her), Co-Executive Director – Operations, and Aleks Selim Dughman-Manzur, JD. LL.M. (they, them), Co-Executive Director – Programming and Advocacy. Pivot donated $167 raised from the drag show event, and we discovered that one of the attendees at Drag Out Your Friends also made an additional $100 donation in Pivot’s name.
